New Baptist Mission Formed in Lovington Area
Leon Rice, manager of the Lovington Co operative Gun Association, announced a new Baptist Mission has been organized and construction has begun. The mission will be a 36 by 60 foot frame building with asbestos shingles, white exterior, housing about 150 people. Charter members include Ben Graham, M. Hughes, A. T. Watson, Gene Ellis, Ed McDaniels, L. L. Smith, Hoyt Rice and others. Rice reports 20 members already joined. Services have been held at McDonald School Building and at Rice's home. Sunday evening attendance at McDonald runs 50 to 60. Rice will preach his last Sunday at McDonald this week to allow the congregation to secure a replacement.
