GOOD RAINS OVER PLAINS BREAKS DROUGHT

A long drought ends as rains spread from Friday evening to Tuesday night reviving grass and feed stocks across much of the plains. Farmers ready for summer planting expect improved markets, irrigation interest, and a stronger growth outlook if rains continue. Joyriders sheltered from the rain overnight Sunday as showers covered the area.

Taft Signs Revised Three Year Homestead Law

President Taft today signed a three year homestead bill expanding entrymen rights. It lowers required proof time from five to three years, allows five months absence per year, and reduces large claim acreage from sixty to forty acres. Representative Taylor of Colorado received the pen.

Immigrants to Canada for American farmers teased by laws

Hon Love Returns as Seemreante for county on Plains

Hon R F Love returns after three months away and has used his efforts to excuse the county on the Plains. He claims success in passing the bill through the house by an almost unanimous vote. Expats vow not to consider the bill this session, leaving it for next term which begins in January.

First State Legislature Adjourns Till January

The first state legislature of New Mexico adjourned at noon after a night of activity and ceremonial scenes. Both houses labored to finish measures on the Republican program, with a cheerful farewell as members and visitors anticipated seven months apart. Governor McDonald has six days to sign or veto measures.
