Olmstead Safe After Brownfield Crop Dusting Flight
Virgil Olmstead of Seminole, a veteran 48 year old crop duster, was forced to land his green Super Cub 135 near Brownfield Texas after a flight from Pennsylvania. A four hour search by Texas and New Mexico authorities located him after he had stopped in Pachuca Texas and Wichita Falls for fuel. Local sheriff deputies and Hobbs Civil Air Patrol aided in the search and found Olmstead unharmed.

Jeter’s Peace Bond Bid Against Price Is Denied
Justice of the Peace John W. Green dismissed K A Jeter’s petition to place Buell Price under a peace bond after evidence failed to prove a credible threat. Jeter claimed a Thursday call cursed him and threatened violence over a garnishment dispute and unpaid $28.00. Price testified no calls were made and witnesses placed him at the packing plant with no phone nearby.

Milton Woodard Funeral Held in Lovington
Funeral services for Milton Ray Woodard son of Mr and Mrs W L Woodard Lovington were held at Parkview Baptist Church Saturday at 4 pm Rev M O Hillis officiating. He was born August 1928 in Plegg Texas and died July 16 1954 at Santa Anna Hospital. He is survived by his wife Clydell Limley Woodard and his parents three sisters and four brothers. He worked for National Geophysical Co in Lovington and co owned Truck Harbor at Santa Anna. Interment followed at Lovington Cemetery.

G I Forum Plans Dance Series in Hobbs
The Hobbs Chapter of the American G I Forum met at St. Helena Church to organize biweekly dances to fund the state convention in Hobbs scheduled for March 1955. The first dance took place at the VFW Hall Hobbs with future dances planned there. State Board meeting set for August in Clovis and Hobbs delegates to be appointed July 30.

Baby girl released after Seminole kidnapping and assault
Five month old Jackie Jo Davis, daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Davis, is reported to be doing fine after release from Seminole Texas Hospital. She was kidnapped and assaulted last Wednesday. William Hughes is jailed in Lubbock Texas charged with rape of the baby. Parents had hosted Hughes for dinner earlier that evening.

In Snyder Texas early Wednesday a crash killed Leonard Tracy of Hobbs and critically injured Benford W. McCann of 506 Park Hobbs. Tracy’s funeral was held in Drumright Oklahoma.
