Three Escapees From Pine Bluff Boys Home Captured Near Artesia
An official from the Boys Industrial Home at Pine Bluff Arkansas was en route to return three escapees. Robert McKnight Charles Morris and Lonnie Blankenship were captured five miles east of Artesia after leaving a Lovington gas station without paying. They had burgled and fled in a series of cars across Texas and New Mexico. Two gave statements detailing escapes and attempted burglaries.

Breakdown Of Fines For Month Of June In Lovington
Sixteen persons paid speeding fines in Lovington during June per the town clerk's report. The month recorded 16 miscellaneous traffic violations, two reckless driving fines, four for fighting and four for drunk driving. There were 20 drunk fines assessed, two gambling fines, one disturbing the peace offense, and a $35 bond forfeited for whipping a child and contempt of court.

Community Election Boards Set Up in County
A joint meeting Friday July 9 by the A S C Committee and the County Election Board set up community election boards to run the August elections for community committee men and delegates to the County Convention. The County A S C Committee for 1955 will be elected at that convention. New county and community committeemen take office September 1. Eunice Man Uses Lie Test In Wife Death Case

Four Hobbs Men Stake Uranium Claims in Utah
Oscar Shaw Bill Shaw Harold Campbell and Bob Cain of Hobbs staked uranium claims in southern Utah after reading about Moab. They first visited June 4 and returned June 24 with samples of uranium rocks petrified wood and dinosaur bones believed 157 million years old. They describe mining by drifting with dynamite and mucking to the smelter with ore selling about 1.50 to 3.50 per pound.
