New Mexico Press Endorses Resolution Advocating Free Enterprise
In open session the New Mexico Press unanimously endorsed a 1951 resolution urging the legislature to restore free enterprise, cut licensing boards and fair trade laws, and oppose fixed prices. It names Dental, Electrical, Plumbing, Optometry, Doctors, Lawyers, Architects, Accountants, Barber and Beauty boards, plus others, with a list to be compiled for public exposure. The resolution targets regulatory “economic delinquency” and calls presses to inform voters, to be delivered to the Legislature in January 1951.

Grass Fire at Pink Burns Ranch Tracked by Volunteers

Former Hobbs Man Dies In Denver
Sol Stark, once of Hobbs and operator of the Central Bar near the 119 Club, died in Denver. His brother Ss Stark of the Crown Store in Hobbs learned of the death, Stark flew to Denver. Survived by his widow and three children Marlene Wesley and Harriet, plus two brothers Si of Hobbs and Sam of Cheyenne, and one sister Mrs. Mary Hoofman of Denver. Mrs Si Stark and daughter Marylyn were in Lubbock at telegram time and could not return.
