Greene expresses strong support for the Plaine trade and invites them to visit. The town has a new close canning factory ready to operate as tomatoes and garden crops come in. Farmers promise to devote irrigated acreage to growing enough produce for a full season.
A man named Pond and Geo Jaco walked ninety miles last week, with Pond limping and feet sore but happy after losing seven pounds. The trek was done on a wager, each holding tickets in their pockets as reported by the Valley News.
Town records show a small hotel with ten rooms is fully booked and often overflows into spare spaces. Owner Mr. Gaurard reports feeding and accommodating far more guests than present rooms allow and urges a new hotel to handle incoming visitors.
