Highlights of Lovington proposed platting ordinance aim to guide alley, block and lot design within city limits and three miles beyond. It requires Zoning and Planning Commission approval for plans, fosters orderly development, and sets standards for utilities, parks, streets, and light. Violations carry a $100 daily fine.
An Odessa man was returned to Carlsbad for questioning after a highway shooting on Route 180 near Hobbs. Gary Harden reported firing at his father following heavy drinking during a family trip from Odessa toward Artesia. The elder Harden was treated for a heel wound. motive unclear.
Members of the Knife and Fork Club will hear Captain Jose Guzman Badivieso Bolivian Consul to the United States and former UN delegate discuss conditions and problems of the Americas The meeting is at Hobbs Country Club at 7 30 p m.
Robert L. Stansberry longtime Tom Green County rancher died last Wednesday in Wilcox Arizona at age 90 while visiting relatives. He homesteaded on Toenail Trail near Christoval and ran a 17 section sheep and cattle operation with up to 3 000 sheep and 200 cattle plus goats. He served as Hutchinson County deputy sheriff in 1915 16 survivors include his widow five sons four daughters among them Mrs J W Clay of Lovington.
All Catholic ladies in Lea County are invited to a February 23 meeting at 7 30 p m at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hobbs to organize a chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America. For information call Mrs Jack Christy Hobbs Express 3 2779.

Three men pleaded guilty to FBI charges after arraignment before U S Commissioner Tom Finn. Walter Ellison faced a Dyer Act count for transporting a stolen vehicle from Victoria Texas to Hobbs around January 19. William Perry admitted a Dyer Act violation for moving a stolen 1949 Ford from El Paso to Hobbs around February 8. Lester Ale pleaded guilty to forging an endorsement on a payroll check for Warren Bradshaw Drilling Co Tulsa in January for 90.47 dollars. All held on 1500 dollar bonds and sent to federal custody in Albuquerque after Hobbs arraignments.

Elmer Green of 1025 Gulf Hobbs reported a theft of his wife’s pay check for 80 75 from the front seat of his car while parked near Sage’s Traffic Sales firm in Hobbs. Green stopped payment on the check.

They offer pipe and allied goods storage from rail unloads, household and furniture storage, general merchandise, van service coast to coast, and local moving in Lovington. The brothers, who arrived after the war, are active in church and civic projects.
