Snow Blankets Lea County as Plains States See Relief
Lea County and southeastern New Mexico woke to real snow with 1 to 5 inches reported across Hobbs Lovington and caprock areas. The wintry storm closed highways from Santa Rosa to Albuquerque with about 20 accidents due to icy roads and temperatures dropping to 13 degrees. Farmers and ranchers in Lea County smiled as moisture eased the dust bowl drought.

Five Inch Snow in Lovington Reported
Lovington received five inches of snow on Monday night into Tuesday morning, with about 0.42 inches of moisture. Temperature fell to 11 degrees Tuesday night and rose eight degrees by mid morning. roads remained slick and hazardous Wednesday morning.
