Funeral services for Mrs Ara Armeda Ward who died Thursday morning were held Saturday afternoon in Eunice with Griffin Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Eunice Cemetery. She lived in Eunice 10 years and was born February 10 1880. She was 74. She died at the home of her son Joe McDurmitt in Skelly Camp No 2. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Erbie Eddings and Mrs Bea Chowning of Embado NM two sons Joe McDurmitt of Eunice and Pat Ward of Kansas one sister Mrs W H Rodgers Charlott Texas one brother John Burnett Brownfield Texas six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Long Time Hobbs Resident Eula Allen Dies at 56
Eula Pearl Allen died in a Hobbs hospital about 1 pm Thursday at age 56. A Texas native who lived in Hobbs 44 years, she was a member of the Hobbs Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Southern Heights Methodist Church. Survived by husband H. V., two daughters Mrs Raymon Wilson El Paso and Miss Rosie Marie Allen Hobbs, three sons Jimmie Merle Hobbs Earl Baton Rouge, five brothers and three sisters, five grandchildren. Funeral at First Methodist Church Hobbs Friday 3 pm under Griffin Purverat Home, burial at Memory Gardens.

Lovington to Adopt New City Code in January
Lovington will operate under a new complete code of ordinances after the first of the year. Attorney Hammel Carrell presented the bulky code at Thursday’s meeting and urged a special session to adopt parts or the whole set. The code, modeled on state law and practices from Albuquerque and Carlsbad, requires passage by January 1.
