United Press reports Frank B. Schultz and the Fireman's Fund Insurance Co appealed a Bernalillo County Court order for workmen's compensation to Wallace M. Wright. Wright, 39, injured in a 1949 fall down an elevator shaft at Johnson Art Galleries, UNM. District Judge George B. Harris set $37.50 weekly for 550 weeks plus $700 medical expenses and $700 attorneys' fees. Wright was employed by Schultz at the time.

Pink Boll Worm Found in County in Central Texas and Louisiana
The county agent reports spread of pink bollworm into central Texas and coastal Louisiana. In Gaines County Texas live pink bollworms were found on cotton stalks. most other insects were killed by a hard freeze. Farmers are urged to follow quarantine rules and seed treatment before planting.

Cattlemen to Hold Meeting in Clovis December 8 and 9
More than five hundred cattle men from across New Mexico will attend the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association regional meeting in Clovis December 8 and 9. A large fire gutted the Allen Gin Co. in Lovington with only the office area saved. The blaze started in the press at the south end and spread north, destroying the building and equipment except for the engines and office. Owner A. A. Allen estimated losses at about 40,000, largely insured.

Lumber Workers Win 5 Percent Across The Board Raise
ALBUQUERQUE UP A 5 cent per hour across the board pay increase has been granted to all sawmill and lumber workers by employers in the New Mexico Arizona Pine Association. John Murray of Albuquerque says the raise is effective November 1 and the contract does not expire until next summer.
