Lone Rally Starts Here On Friday

The Church of the Nazarene hosts the Pecos Valley Bone Rally Friday December 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Speakers include Dr. Westlake T. Purkiser and Rev. Luther Pryor with participation from Nazarene societies and Sunday schools across Artesia, Carlsbad, Deming, Hagerman, Hobbs, Lovington, Pecos, Roswell, Roswell Bethel, and Tatum. Lovington Municipal School District No. 1 bus drivers held a Tuesday afternoon meeting on November 28 to discuss transportation matters. The program involved district principals Lee Burt Larry Crouse and Roy Lee Jones.

Jacuzzi Corporation Seeks Receiver for Badgett Gas Co Case

The Jacuzzi Corporation files a district court petition in Lovington on November 22 seeking a receiver for Badgett Gas and Equipment Co and Lea Gas Inc. It requests nullification of asset transfers to Lea Gas Inc and possession of all property to apply proceeds to indebtedness of 467.56 for merchandise delivered to both companies. Final Rites Held For Mrs Carter

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris McCarthy Carter 24 of Buckeye were held at the First Methodist Church in Lovington on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. W R Houston officiated. She was born March 1 1926 in Eliasville Texas and died November 26 at Lea County Hospital in Hobbs. Burial followed in Lovington Cemetery with pallbearers named from Hobbs Seminole Millsap and Graham.

Tax Rates Rise in Lovington for 1950 Notices

Tax notices for 1950 will be mailed as county assessor and county treasurer offices rush to finish records. Lovington’s levy is 3.37 per hundred due to a sewer bond, higher than last year. Physical Examinations for Primary Students

A complete physical examination by local physicians has been given to each child enrolled in first grade. Results will aid teachers and officials in addressing school day problems. Examinations are planned for all second graders and, if revenue allows, through the fourth grade.

Appeals From Judge Harris Court In Lea County and Roswell Bank Case

Two appeals from District Judge George Harris' court reached the State Supreme Court. One involves Hudgens and Freeman of Lovington seeking $1760 commissions on land sold by Cecil F. Nelson and Associates to Tom Caraway's sellers. The other contests a $1285 judgment for Roswell State Bank against the Lawrence Walker Cotton Company after cashing a check for Herbert Luttrell that El Paso State National Bank did not honor.
