Stanley Flint aided by a tip from Hobbs police traced 48 tulips gone from District Judge John R Brand’s home near Broadmoor School. Flowers were broken mid stem and reappeared on a teacher’s desk after a third day of disappearances.
A three inch rain and golf ball sized hail battered Lovington causing up to half a million dollars in damage in about an hour. Flooding, broken windows, ruined rugs and store stocks followed as roads blocked and power and telephones faltered. Local insurance firms rushed to handle claims while residents noted the drought relief behind the destruction.

A four month old two headed boy hospitalized since March 18 at Doctors Hospital in Indianapolis has fully recovered from pneumonia. The weaker head developed pneumonia about a month ago and the child was placed in an oxygen tent but improved after antibiotics and treatment. He may leave the hospital when his parents are able to transport him.

The Bell-Lake Number One unit of Continental Oil Company burned after March 13 and was blown out by nitroglycerin blasts twice, then reignited again Thursday and put out with another nitro charge. The well has consumed thousands of dollars worth of crude oil and gas.
