Four New Wildcats For Oil Drilling In Lea County
Four wildcats are staked in southwest New Mexico’s Lea County for immediate drilling by Phillips Petroleum Amerada Petroleum and Texas Co among others. Tests include 12500 foot hole in Denton field and 4400 foot Per mian test at Monument, with a Magnolia State and AR State prospects also described. A Roosevelt County well, Magnolia Petroleum No 1 J B Brown, reached 8071 feet with gas shows and oil bleeding but no oil found in final test.

Construction began last week on the new office building for the law firm Heidel and Swarthout. Located mid block south of the Baptist Church on First Street, it will be brick faced with concrete block and provide three private offices a waiting room a reception area and a library. The firm now operates from Lea County State Bank building. Heidel started his practice in Lovington in 1946 and joined Swarthout in March 1948. Heidel is the son of Mr and Mrs.

Mrs. Pearl Wright Returns To Hobbs
Mrs. Pearl Wright of Hobbs returns from Ardmore Oklahoma after a weeks stay to be with her seriously ill father. He died three weeks ago and two nephews were killed in a nearby bomb blast with a third injured. The injured youth lost a leg and had one ankle removed. He has a good chance to live. Mrs Wright traveled with her mother.
