Medical Aid Denied for Manslaughter Suspect

Tidewater completes discovery at No. 1 PD State 5
The Tidewater Associated Oil Co. No. 1 PD State 5 in Lea County has been completed as a producer from the Strawn lime of the Pennsylvanian. It is expected to flow 722 barrels daily of 41 gravity oil through a 0.5 inch choke, with perforations opposite the Pennsylvanian between depths 11 080 and 11 150 feet. The location is 9 miles west of the Knowles Devonian field, 660 feet from the south and east lines of sections 32 16S 37E.

Juvenile crime costs Hobbs area recovery of Grimes place
County Commissioner Carl Denson from Hobbs notes juvenile deliquency drives high repair costs. He leased the old Grimes residence west of Hobbs to a young couple, then vandals rebuilt it as a haunted house injuring the property. Mrs. Lula Doran, aged 66, died in Lea County and was found drowned in a bath tub. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church with a coroner’s inquest ruling accidental drowning. Survivors include three children and six grandchildren. extensive local mourners and former students attended.

Hobbs city commission approves a temporary overhaul of the city jail at about 1200 to house drunks awaiting sobriety, confinement for those awaiting trial, and county prisoners en route to Lovington. The move eases county jail crowding as about 60 prisoners are held. 15 would have fit in Hobbs jail. The rehab is temporary until a new city jail is built.
