He criticized Romeo Reagan Nixon as insufficiently prepared on national and international questions and urged a candidate like Sen Charles Percy who can offer clear answers on Vietnam inflation civil rights and urban problems.
Albuquerque district attorney Alfonso Sanchez said Tijerina told him privately that his group would seize property by force and form a federation of Free City States. Sanchez defended police handling of the Tierra Amarilla courthouse attack and denied civil rights violations, disputing claims of a cowpen detention of protesters.
President H C Pannell announced the names of full time students with twelve or more semester hours and a 4.0 average on the President's Honor List for the spring semester. Chief James Robinson of the Lovington Police Department warns residents to avoid BB gun use within city limits as complaints rise over damage to windows windshields and glass fronts. He promises full legal punishment for anyone possessing and firing loaded BB guns in Lovington.

Senator Clinton Anderson urges the U S Tariff Commission to study potash imports citing their rise from 3000 tons in 1961 to over 2.13 million tons last year. He warns Canada could export more potassium than the U S within two years and notes 89 percent of U S potash comes from his state.

Santa Fe district attorney Al Sanchez said he may file criminal libel suits against reporters for false stories about treatment of alleged supporters of Reies.Tijerina. He noted suits could target any writer who did not verify facts about people kept in pens at Canjilon after the Tierra Amarilla courthouse raid.
A Lovington Police Department report states $700 in damages from an accident on second street and Avenue J. A 1966 Pontiac driven by Bernice Sue Riley failed to yield to a 1960 Chevrolet pickup driven by Ronald Dean Coz, causing the side impact. Mrs. Riley received a citation for failure to yield right of way.
The state plans to file price fixing charges soon against New Mexico pipe manufacturers. Atty. Gen. Boston Witt said Tuesday that firms in the concrete steel asbestos and vitrified clay pipe industries in New Mexico are named in the suit. He urged Albuquerque City Atty Frank Horan to join in the action.
