Grasshopper Spraying Set to Begin in Lea County
D. E. Bartholf announces the Buckeye Mallamar Grasshopper Control Program will start soon in Lea County. Four PV-2 airplanes arrive at Lovington Sunday, with spraying beginning Monday at 4 30 A M over 350000 acres of infested range land. Ralph Johnson of Cheyenne Wyoming is the successful bidder. Malathion will be applied at 8 ounces per acre, using 95 percent concentrate and special nozzles for fine droplets. The insecticide is harmful to auto paint but not to humans.

Bradley Wins School Repair Contract for Instruments
Bradley Music of Lovington secured the repair contract for musical instruments used by Lovington Schools next year. It underbid Rodgers Music of Hobbs and Phillips House of Music of Clovis, with Bradley’s bid at $1,324. Business Machines of Hobbs won the machine maintenance contract for $635. Lea County residents invested $91,992 in U S Savings Bonds during April, chairman C A Love reported, with $207,358 placed in the first four months of the year. New Mexico purchases for April 1966 reached $1,580,665, up 33 percent from April 1965, while four month totals rose 24.55 percent to $5,808,763. Nationwide April sales rose 9.2 percent and four month gains 4 percent over 1965.
