Yugoslav President Tito signals openness to visiting the United States if invited while Eisenhower backs reciprocal Soviet visits. A U S invitation to Bulganin and Khrushchev looms as Tito defends continued Yugoslav-American aid despite congressional strains.
Tito announced complete understanding with Soviet leaders after his Moscow visit. He said Yugoslavia's relations with the USSR would not suffer and dismissed Western aid withdrawals as unimportant. He spoke at a Kremlin reception and to reporters before leaving by train for Leningrad for a 10 day Soviet tour.
Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban told the American Jewish Committee in Washington he will seek 64 million dollars in U.S. arms. He said UN inaction endangers Israel and noted the UN Council dropped an Arab-opposed amendment. France halted light arms to the Middle East after officials said shipments reached Algeria and were used against French soldiers.
Lovington Democrats met in the courthouse on Wednesday to select 34 delegates for the county convention in Hobbs on Saturday. After discussion, a motion allowed delegates and proxies present to cast the Lovington vote, either in a block or split among multiple lines. Each precinct's representatives will go uninstructed.
A Trans World Airlines passenger plane with 31 aboard caught fire when its landing gear collapsed on landing at Greater Pittsburgh Airport. At least six injured, one seriously, with two identified victims: Ellis Waingrow of New Haven and Mrs. Lewis Newman of New York.

Bold Ruler the Nasr ullah colt from Wheatley stable won Belmont's $34,000 Juvenile Stakes, clocking five furlongs in 56 seconds. Jockey Eddie Arcaro led him to victory by a length over King Hairan with Supernatural third as trainer Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons eyes a Nashua-like rise.
New frozen seafood products reach shelves nationwide. The items are scallops and fish bites a mix of potatoes cod haddock or ocean perch with seasonings. Both require only a few minutes in a hot oven to heat and serve.

Rayes Salcido of 420 E. Byers Hobbs sustained severe burns when a moving oil field machine bumped a live electrical line. He was found on the ground and rushed to Lea General Hospital Hobbs with doctors en route to assess burns. State police Eunice and NM Electric Service crews investigated at the scene.
House Democrats accuse the Eisenhower administration of aiding private utilities to destroy public power and push a private monopoly. The 250 page report demands firing Interior Undersecretary Clarence A Davis and Assistant Secretary Fred G Randahl for alleged subversion in federal power sales. Republicans issue a 50 page dissent claiming partisan misuse of oversight and denouncing the attack on private enterprise. Democratic Congressman W. R. Poage of Texas accuses the USDA of misinterpreting the 1956 soil bank law shielding damaged or destroyed crops from full payments. He says most drought and disaster losses qualify for full soil bank payments, despite department doubts and an upcoming formal opinion.
The AFL-CIO Executive Council assigns its Ethical Practices Committee to investigate union racketeering and welfare fund abuses after a Senate Subcommittee report. President Eisenhower offers government help if needed. The council will also address the defunct AFL-CIO Teamsters and ILA alliance, once charged with racketeering in 1953.
Admiral Charles Turner Joy, the chief American negotiator in the Korean truce, died at San Diego Naval Hospital at age 61 from leukemia. A four star officer long at sea, he gained fame for the tense Korean peace talks with China and later led the Naval Academy at Annapolis before retiring in 1954.
President Eisenhower left the White House for a farming trip to Gettysburg Pennsylvania to discuss plans to expand his Aberdeen Angus herd with breeders Allan Ryan and Lee Leachman of Rhinebeck New York. He then returned to Washington.

Free Red Cross led swimming lessons start Monday at 9 00 am at the Country Swimming Pool under Elaine Charman. Three week session costs 3.00 per student with transportation by parents. Eligibility requires completing first grade. Classes cover beginners to advanced swimmers with an adult ladies group. Sessions run June 11 29 and July 9 27 with 30 minute daily lessons five days a week. Students may enroll in one or both sessions.
A crew from the Connecticut Light and Power Co. faced about an hour of interruption when a power failure interrupted their work in Naugatuck, Connecticut.
Shirley Dix of Lovington and Nancy Lowery were chosen by Lovington High School to attend Girls State at the University of New Mexico June 10 17. Shirley is active in cheerleading majorette class leadership and clubs while Nancy is active in Honor Society Future Teachers of America Spanish Club and band among others.
James Lahey was treated for hand wounds after attempting to break up a fight between a cat and a dog in South Bend Indiana. Local police reported the incident occurred yesterday near a residential area. No further injuries were noted and the animals were separated.
