Adlai Stevenson scored a decisive two to one victory over Estes Kefauver in California’s Democratic primary, winning 621000 to 376000 with about two thirds of precincts reporting. Eisenhower led Republicans unopposed with 612000 votes as Stevenson gained 68 convention votes. Kefauver remains a contender. Three Detroit youths accused of leading a stolen freight train face possible charges and up to 10 years in prison. The U S Department of Agriculture reports the index of prices received by New Mexico farmers and ranchers fell by one point from mid April to May 15, placing the index at 240 percent of the 1910 14 average. Malcolm Clifford Kennedy 31 of Jal was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Ivan Read on a drunken driving charge Tuesday at 3 p.m four miles south of Holbs on State Road 18 after his car left the road and struck a fence on the N. C. Bing ham property. The vehicle lay in Bringham pasture when Kennedy was taken into custody. Sheriff Reag described Kennedy as very intoxicated at arrest.
