Two Accidents Reported In Lovington With $325 Damage
Lovington police log details two accidents in the past 24 hours. At 10:15 a.m. on Main and Avenue G Clyde Franklin Carson Jr pulled in front of Perry Carlton causing $200 and $100 damage to a 1961 Ford station wagon and a 1958 Chevrolet pickup. Carson cited for failing to yield. At 11:30 a.m. at Jefferson and 9th Street Willie Wyatt 1963 Ford and Ross Warren Black 1964 VW backed into each other after Wyatt backed to avoid a oncoming car causing about $25 damage. Wyatt cited for improper backing.

Lightning strikes during Little League game in Clovis
Four people were burned by a lightning strike near a Little League baseball game in Clovis New Mexico Tuesday. Three were admitted for observation, including James Hubby 36 league president Don Beasley 16 son of the principal and Karen Agee 16. Pat Martin 16 was treated and released. Nurse Ann Miller credited with saving Beasley’s life.

20 000 Workers Stage Walkout
About 20 000 AFL CIO CTU workers walked out for four hours halting Western Union telegraph service coast to coast. Pickets appeared in Washington Chicago and Albuquerque as talks on a new contract collapsed at noon EDT. Senator Questions Writeoff of Uncollectible Taxes in 1965
Sen John J Williams questioned the 1965 rise in federal writeoffs of delinquent tax accounts and the growth of delinquent cases. He cited IRS offices in Brooklyn Manhattan and San Francisco and noted a 275 percent jump in Manhattan writeoffs from 1964. Cohen called the delinquency rise a temporary effect as 1964 taxes were delayed to September 1965 to ease taxpayer burden. Williams reported 12th annual delinquent tax totals and a 61 percent rise in uncollectible accounts for 1965, while abatements jumped 68.5 percent to 299.6 million. Cohen said the collection program remains vigorous and firm.
