Lovington Post Office reports United States Postal Savings certificates totaling 1423 dollars are earning little interest for 16 local depositors. Nationwide the program holds more than 147 million and ends April 27 1966. Deposits earn no interest after April 26 1967 and should be closed out. U S Savings Bonds at 4.15 percent are recommended as a safer, productive alternative. Remaining funds will transfer to the Treasury for a general trust fund after July 1 next year.
