Beatrice M. Fort earned another thirty year award as Lea County secretary. Twenty-five year honors went to J.R. Chavez, Dorothy Y. Hanny, and Helen G. Stanley. Twenty-year awards were given to Elsie Cunningham, Benton R. Fritz, Ed H. Hitson, Mary Ann Owen, John M. White, Al W. Woodburn, and Foster Zimmerman.
Officials unpaid for assisting the election should contact the County Clerk. Some claims were locked in the ballot box and are unavailable.
Lovington reports a high of 44 and low of 28. The state record high reached 64 at Roswell, with a 19 low at Raton. Lovington posted a high of 61 at 3:30 p.m. and a 32 low at 7 p.m. Total 1966 rainfall stands at 15.20 inches.
