Notre Dame, ranked 13th, erased a 12 point deficit to beat Michigan 87 86 in South Bend. Sid Catlett returned from injury to provide key defense and rebounds while Austin Carr scored 37 points.
Mark Wood a Lovington High School senior earned top honors at Palspiration day in Albuquerque. He scored 37 of 52 in a basketball game to secure the award and win a trip to Pasadena College in Pasadena California for Senior Day on April 9 and 10.
In Durango Colorado the College of Santa Fe defeated Fort Lewis College 87 to 84 in a nonconference contest. The game was tied at halftime 43 43 with the Knights pulling away after an 82 82 deadlock aided by Al Fox free throws. George Cook led Santa Fe with 25 points while Cephas Weatherspoon scored 20 for Fort Lewis.
Pirates outfielder Matty Alou, the first batter this season to reach 150 hits, marked a notable offensive milestone for Pittsburgh as the team pursued continued success.
