U S Commissioner J H Fitzpatrick presided Monday and Tuesday over a county civil hearing in the Hatchet Cattle Co area near Hachita. The state argued land selection on March 23 1917 was mineral, with Tom Berkley and RR L Corbett testifying for the state and J M Wilcox D D Bar testified for the government. Special Agent Backstrom and L C Mackel presented mineral testimony. Judge Fitzpatrick will relay results to the Las Cruces Register and Receiver for review with a final hearing set for October 11.
