Homecoming Jaurequi Family To Lead WNM Parade
The Jaurequi family of slain WNMU alumnus Greg Jaurequi will lead the downtown Silver City homecoming parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Helen Jaurequi and nine children in front. The day features a 1 p.m. football kickoff at Silver High Stadium, performances by bands from Silver, Cobre, Cliff, and Zia Middle School, and multiple events including a Hall of Fame breakfast, tailgate, alumni reception, and a banquet headlined by U.S. Magistrate Joe H. Galvan.

Animas High School Sees Enrollment Rise In 1992-93
Animas High School reports 166 students in grades 9 through 12 for the 1992-93 year, up 15 from last year, with a $1.6 million bond-funded upgrade including an athletics fieldhouse, band uniforms, new carpeting, restrooms, and library expansions. The district expands curriculum in Business Education Home Economics Mathematics and Fine Arts while adding a Language Arts and Mathematics remediation program and an inclusion initiative.

County Seizures Share Assets From Drug Busts
From 1989 to 1992 the U S Customs Service and Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office coordinated six seizures totaling about 2400 pounds of marijuana and ten arrests. Eight vehicles and a trailer were forfeited to the U S Government including pickups and a flatbed railer seized between 1989 and 1992. Sheriff Robert Hall received the awarded vehicles under the Asset Sharing Program, praised for the strong joint efforts to curb drug flow and protect citizens.
