William A. Swift III 41 a Rodeo resident died September 6 at his home. Visitation was Sunday at Baca s Funeral Chapels Deming. Graveside services Monday at 11 at Rodeo Cemetery. He was born November 9 1951 in Phoenix and was a rancher and farmer. He graduated Animas High School 1969 and New Mexico State University 1974. He served as president of the Animas School Board and Hidalgo County Fair Board and supported Hidalgo County 4H FFA and school activities. Survived by wife Tricia two sons William IV of Lubbock and Travis of Silver City parents William Arthur Swift II and Pearl Robb Swift both of Rodeo sister Pamela Prewitt of Silver City grandmother May Robb of Deming two nieces Holly and Katy Prewitt pallbearers Ricky Randy Dennis Massey Ed Rooo Edward Elbrock and Bill Cloudt memorials to Hidalgo County 4H Club or FFA. Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce meet Wednesday at 10 in the Chamber office Motel Drive per Joanna Lopez Chamber Director.

Florida Juvenile Arrest Case Shifts to Diagnostic Center
A 16 year old Florida girl involved in the September 12 truck jackings was ordered by District Court Judge Manuel Saucedo to a New Mexico Youth Diagnostic Center for up to 15 days of evaluation. She pled guilty to amended charges of resisting evading or obstructing an officer in Grant County. The case followed an attempted auto theft and gunpoint encounter with a truck driver and his daughter on Interstate 10.
