First P A Meeting in Lordsburg a Live Hummer

The initial Lordsburg Parent-Teacher Association meeting drew a mammoth crowd from Valedon and beyond. Mrs E F Leday presided, Olivia Wells led ceremonies, and Prof Laughlin’s hoboe band drew applause as attendees formed a self introduced committee. Officers for the ensuing year include Mrs FF Lydav as president and Supt R A MecLeeskey as second vice president.

Entertained Baptist Class and Lordsburg Lodge Visit

Mrs Lola Jones hosted her Baptist Sunday School class with ten children present. The report recounts a March 3 trip by sea and land to Lordsburg for a lodge event, meeting Brother Holt and Dr Bowen, a tour of the C A Mining Company, dinner with the Kerrs, and attendance at a regular lodge session highlighting Pim Thipianism in Lordsburg.

Methodist Revival Gains Momentum In Town

The Methodist Revival continues with strong attendance and varied meetings. Tonight all men from several fraternal groups are welcome, with women’s afternoon sessions at two o clock and upcoming weekend services. Reverend Hey Vo Williams preaches while A Searey leads music.

Mimbres Valley Bank to Open October First

The Mimbres Valley Bank, organized in Deming, plans to open for business by October first. Coon will head the bank, with Goon and wife arriving this week to live on Granite Avenue, and Godfrey Trowbridge to become cashier.

The Electa Circle will host an enchilada dinner at the old Eagle Drug store opposite the Liberal office on Tuesday from 5 to 7 in the evening. Proceeds support circle activities.

Peculiar Fatality Takes Valued Racer Reaster

An unheard of fatality struck the racing world as the horse Reaster, recently bought by I. M. Reynolds and Hale Chenowth, died after an alley incident near Birchfield House in South Main. The animal, once fast on the track, collapsed in a cess pool and could not be rescued despite efforts. The owners had plans to enter him in major events with a $5,000 guarantee. Frank Wewerk rode him in his last race.

Thompson Orchestra Returns to Lordeboro for Dance Nights

Mr W F Thompson popular saxophonist and dance band leader returns to Lordeboro with a red hot orchestra after a Phoenix layoff. The group will base at a local op and tour Deming Wilkes Bowie and Valedon with a new Studebaker for transport. A dance is set for Star Theatre Friday September 25 and will run each Friday thereafter.

Salter Family Plagued by Illness and Accident

This week brings a run of troubles for Billy Salter. He escorted his sister in law Mrs Kennedy to Elease for major surgery and she is progressing. Mrs Salter lies ill at her parents home in Duncan where both are ill. J A Lister is in Lordsburg hospital with a knee injury. Billy and Dennis run the hotel.

Willcox Franchises Electric Plant Vote Cleared

The Willcox franchise election resulted in a unanimous vote approving W OP Hitler to build an electric light plant. Ninety three votes were cast in favor with no dissent, and construction was expected to start soon, aiming for electricity by January. Walker and Kite ter are highlighted as progressive leaders supporting the project.

Surveyors Work on Virden Highway Project

A State Highway Department crew led by H C Idin G1 Machimore Jack Hubbard and Walter Agee surveys the Lordsburg Virden federal highway. Location engineer Hol Tingley is expected soon to direct the exact route prompting citizens to cooperate for the public welfare and traveling public.
