Kuykendall Installed Pythian Grand Chief in Lordsburg

Mrs Winnie Kuykendall of Lordsburg was installed as grand chief of the Pythian Sisters during the Grand Lodge session at Knights of Pythias Castle Hall. Milton Johnson of Belen became grand chancellor and Glenn Dorsett of Lordsburg grand outer guard. Mrs Bethel Fuller of Lordsburg was installed as grand musician. About 100 members attended the event with floral harvest decor and a banquet served in the high school cafetorium.

Mrs. Helen McQueen Austin Dies in Lordsburg

Mrs. Helen McQueen Austin, born February 1, 1890 in Chicago, died September 15 after an extended illness. She lived in Lordsburg 48 years and was married to Dr. C Banks Austin. Services were held at Heather Chapel and St Josephs Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Alderette officiating. burial in Mountain View. Surviving relatives include Ken McQueen of Chicago and several in-laws of Lordsburg and Yerington Nevada.

National Guard Final Riot Drill Scheduled for Weekend

Lordsburg Woman's Club to mark 50th anniversary

The Lordsburg Woman's Club celebrates its 50th anniversary with a party on Sunday September 24. Doors open 2 30 p m. program begins 3 p m. The club organized in 1917 has two charter members still residing in Lordsburg. First president Mrs B S Jackson of El Paso will send greetings. The federation of Women's Clubs dating to about 1892 extends into more than 55 foreign countries. Ladies are asked to bring their husbands.
