H A Saucedo selected as Grand Marshall for Lordsburg Centennial Parade on Oct 18. Saucedo, born in Aguascalientes Mexico, arrived in 1927 and runs Saucedos Super Market. Centennial Week features Pioneer Luncheon October 17, Elks Club dance, and a barbecue at Hidalgo County Fair Grounds with beef from Kipp and Culperson Ranches.

Deputies arrest two Indiana men in West Side Conoco burglary
Hidalgo County deputies arrest Gary Lee Fredrick and Robert A Chambliss for burglary of a structure larceny and criminal damage after a Conoco station break in. Entry via back window in the lube bay area yielded a TV, a gold watch, binoculars, candy and cigarettes. Bond set at 6600 each. Two juveniles were later taken for burglary at Quick Shop. Additional arrests for attempted theft and tampering with autos followed. two suspects held 60 days in county jail after appearance before Magistrate Salinas.

Funeral Services Held For Youths Who Drowned
Funeral services were held in Franklin Arizona for six month old Lonnie Donaldson and her two year old brother Jason who drowned in a flash flood. The search continued for a third child Brandy Donaldson age three missing in Greenlee County. Neighbors said the mother tried to flee with five children fearing the mobile home would be swept away. Justin five and Cody eight were swept away but rescued by bystanders. Wade Donaldson the father was at Phelps Dodge in Tyrone. Mrs Donaldson was treated in a Morenci hospital and released.

Area Men Plead Guilty To Wildlife Violations
Leroy Chapell of Playas, 37, pleaded guilty to hunting dove without a license and was fined 100 dollars plus 10 dollars in court costs. Richard A Tinney, 26, of Playas pleaded guilty to exceeding the dove bag limit, with a 50 dollar fine plus 10 dollars in costs and 30 dollars in civil damage charges.

Hidalgo Industrial Banquet Planned For October 28
Hidalgo Industrial Development Committee outlined plans for an October 28 banquet at the American Restaurant to spur Hidalgo County industrial growth. Three speakers and a Hidalgo County slide show will be featured. Tickets will be sold by committee members and the next meeting is set for October 7 at 7 pm at the Civic Center.
