Col Lindbergh arrives in Lordsburg from Tucson for a brief stop before continuing to El Paso as part of a United States tour under The Daniel Guggenheim Fund for the Promotion of Aeronautics. The Spirit of St Louis will visit more than seventy five cities to promote aviation and air mail infrastructure.

Jim Harper brought in two old sawmill pieces from the early days, reminding Uncle Bud Conner of the Harper mill in the Burro mountains where he first worked in 1882. The picture includes Ira Harper and J M Harper, with Jim's mother and grandfather, and recalls mills that built towns like Lordsburg and Silver City. If Mrs Swan and Mrs Knight attend the Silver City old 49 celebration, they will revisit the town in its infancy.
