The Sheriff's Posse Rodeo held September 7 8 and 9 at the fair grounds produced multiple event winners. In youth barrel races Marion Frie led 9 years and under with Sandra McKinney second and Raymond Blakey third. Frankie Craig won 14 and under with Jim Claridge second and Billie Jo McKinney third. Open barrel race saw Charlotte Wood first and Marena James second. Bareback riding went to Tommy Perez with Scotty Calloway second. Calf roping winners were Bill Carr first, Tommy Perez second and Cliff Pace third. Team roping topped by Walter Wood and Max Byrd with Clyde Upton and Clayton Yarbrough second. After the final performance, 2 jackpot roping events showed Tommy Perez 14.8 for a win. Rowan and Frank Willis were 13.4 in team roping. Bill James 41.5 in calf roping and Tommy Perez 46.4 in calf roping.

Pastor Appointed To St Josephs Church In Lordsburg
The Rev. Daniel Alderette of St Matthews in El Paso becomes pastor at St Josephs Catholic Church in Lordsburg replacing Rev A C Snyker, who is reassigned to Chamberino and Berino churches. Alderette, a Silver City native, was Holy Cross School and Cathedral High School’s first El Paso Diocese ordained graduate in May 1958.
