Retroactive Social Security Benefits Beginning 1965 Notice

Southern Pacific Axes Two Trains Between Phoenix and Tucumcari

Southern Pacific will discontinue westbound 39 and eastbound 40 after Oct 5 between Phoenix and Tucumcari New Mexico. The routes will still run Phoenix to Los Angeles with freight equipment and a coach. Only Nos 1 and 3 westbound and Nos 2 and 4 eastbound will operate daily between Phoenix and El Paso via Lordsburg.

Kennecott Ends Summer Tours at Chino Mill and Smelter

Kennecott Copper Corporation ends its Summer Tour Program for the Chino Mines Division. Daily tours are no longer scheduled but may be arranged by contacting the Hurley Public Relations Department for 4 guided slots. Visitors will receive safety equipment and should wear walking shoes. Tours are open to individuals aged 14 and over. The Santa Rita open pit mine at Silver City remains a daily daylight visitor attraction.

Elks Grant Spurs Cerebral Palsy Clinic At NMSU

A $2400 graduate assistantship funds diagnosis evaluation and therapy for cerebral palsy at New Mexico State University. Sue Storr of Roswell will work with NMSU’s Speech and Hearing Clinic and Cerebral Palsy Clinic under Dr. Edgar Garrett. About 15 clinic sessions are planned this year. The NMSA clinic is not medical. patients must have a complete medical exam first.

Old Timers Parade Route Announced

The Old Timers parade titled Leg ends and Fairy Tales of Long Ago will be held next morning September 10 at 10 a.m. Entries must register with Mrs Victor Lazar parade chairman by Wednesday December 9. Prizes include bicycle division winner engraved trophies for junior and senior divisions. All entrants assemble by 9 30 a.m. behind the high school and march from Fifth Street to Main to Railroad Avenue to Corypern Station then Second Street.
