St Josephs Church Re Dedication Sunday Ceremonies

Re dedication ceremonies for St Josephs Church are set for Sunday October 31 at 10 am. The Most Rev Ricardo Ramirez Bishop of the Diocese of Las Cruces will officiate. Rev Samuel Garcia is pastor. Extensive renovation of St Josephs Church is noted.

Payne to star in Real Stories Of Highway Patrol segment

Ex Hidalgo County Sheriff Lloyd Payne features in a November program recounting a 1986 highway incident in which he fatally shot a suspect after gunfire from the assailant and an Arizona officer. The FOX airing is set for November 9 with local listings advised. Five Entries To Date For Light Parade

Five entries have been committed for the Lighted Parade on December 3, according to Joanna Lopez, chairman. The event debuted last year to praise from onlookers and may attract more entries if generators can be loaned. Call 542-9864 to loan a generator. The parade coincides with Lordsburg Moonlight Madness Sales Event at the National Guard Armory, with booth space available through the Chamber of Commerce.

A Cowboy Christmas Theme For Playas Tree Festival

The first annual Playas Tree Festival adopts a Cowboy Christmas theme and moves from Cotton City to the Playas Community Center. Public viewing runs 7 to 9 pm on December 9 after the Second Annual Playas Parade of Lights, with handmade family decorations encouraged. Border Development Group Holds Meeting In Lordsburg

The Border Development Committee met in Lordsburg to discuss border economy goals through jobs education and health care. Hidalgo County Manager Tom Anderson urged road development between Antelope Wells and Berrendo and raised concerns on grazing housing migrant workers and EMS as population grows.

Commission Discusses Fair Ground Policy

Hidalgo County Commission met in a special session to review the Fairground Use Policy draft from Cooperative Extension Services representative Charlie Siepel. The policy was unanimously accepted. salary schedules were discussed with no decisions. Lordsburg Schools Board meeting set for Tuesday, November 2 at 7:00 PM in Board Room 501 West Fourth Street.

Halloween Carnival Set Saturday at Armory

A Halloween Carnival will be held this Saturday at the National Guard Armory on Second Street from 6 to 10 p.m. Activities include cake walk dime toss bean bag toss wheel of fortune and bobbing for apples. Haunted House at Lordsburg Knights of Phythias

Lordsburg Knights of Pythias present a Halloween haunted house at the Lodge Hall on Main Street. Doors open at 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday nights. Admission is 75 cents for ages 12 and under and 1.50 dollars for others.
