Lions Club Broom Sale Supports Sight Programs
The Lordsburg Lions Club will hold its annual broom sale on November 3 and 4, selling brooms and household items on Second Street near Amin's Dept Store. Proceeds fund eye exams and glasses for Hidalgo County children, with products largely made at the State School for the Blind in Alamagordo and distributed by the school. Methodists Schedule Preaching Services in Albuquerque
The Rev. Hollis Shook will preach at First Methodist Church for four special days starting next week with evening services at 7 30. Lordsburg Band to March in WNMU Homecoming Parade
The Lordsburg High School Band under Eugene Tynalds joins seven area bands in the Western New Mexico University homecoming parade at 10 30 am Saturday Nov 4. Other bands include Hatch Deming Silver Cobre Snell Bayard groups and the university marching band under Hopes Brandt. The homecoming football game follows at 2 pm in James Stadium with WNMU hosting J Marys of the Plains Dodge City Kans.

Mr George Lamb age five of Cottage San Road Silver City died in Tucson October 1. He was a past employee of Southern Pacific KRRO and recently retired. Survived by wife Marguerite and children in Texas California and Silver City. Graveside service held October 21 at Douglas Cemetery. Dell's Valley Funeral Home arranged the services with a time change note for clock adjustment.

Bow and arrow deer season closes at sundown October 22 after a season with good weather and plentiful deer. Regular 1967 deer season runs November 11–19 with forked antler back. Mavericks Bow To Ruidoso in 27 6 Conference Loss
The Lordsburg Mavericks lost 27 6 at Ruidoso last Friday as Mike Brockett scored from the two yard line after a 70 yard drive and Raymond Taylor added a conversion. Dennis Estrada scored a second quarter touchdown for Lordsburg, but Ruidoso pulled away in the final period. Tonight they face Hot Springs Tigers from Truth or Consequences in a tough conference test.
