Death of E M Brickley Shocks Lordsburg Community

E M Brickley longtime banker state leader and Legion officer died after a stroke near the Burro Mountains his car crewed by known local families and friends Funeral services conducted by Rev Franklin R Poage with a large floral tribute and flags. He served in the New Mexico legislature bank associations Army Air Service and various Masonic and civic roles. Relatives attended from several states and Navy officials traveled to Lordsburg for the service.

Verna B McWhorter, daughter of Mr and Mrs Freeman McWhorter, married Billy M Kimbley at the McWhorter ranch home with Chayley Fogliaso officiating. Attendants were Mrs Claude Olney of El Paso and Mrs Laude Olney, reception followed at the One Club with fall floral decor and a large guest list.

Ensign Buddy Wamel Guests? Home on Ten Day Leave

Ensign Buddy Wamel took ten days leave and flew to Albuquerque to visit his sister Louise Wamel, who works for the Bureau of Revenue in Santa Fe. He spent time with his parents on their ranch in Animass, praised the range, and then returned to duty by plane from Douglas, Arizona.

New Mexico reports a regional edge in five cent coffee sales during wartime compared with Rocky Mountain districts. Fish and Wildlife aid funds pond fingerling project

The Socorro Soil Conservation District with the Fish and Wildlife Service planted 100 large mouth bass and 250 channel cat fingerlings across seven ranch ponds. The October 1 farm wage index stood at $26 per cent above the IN1014 average, 146 points higher than October 1, 1944 and 160 points above October 1, 1941 just before Pearl Harbor.
