Manager Allen announces the great film triumph The Scarlet Letter featuring Lillian Gish at the Star next Monday night. The play is usually shown in larger towns, but Eddie brings it here as a special favor to patrons.
Lordsburg and Hurley battled to a 6-6 tie at Hurley, the hardest game of Lordsburg’s season. Archie Caustland starred for Lordsburg with a 40 yard kickoff return and a key end run for the touchdown. The public is urged to attend Friday’s game against Deming second team at 2:30 with 60 cent adult and 25 cent child admission.
Friday October 28 at 7:30 PM features piano solo Christine Parker heading Mrs Allen vocal solo Miss Lowry trombone solo Hubert Jeffus duet Ruth and Rachel Wood vocal solo Mrs Paul Austin saxophone solo Haymond Scott pianologue Betty Spaulding and play That Awful Letter.
Velex Marelos, 13, son of Macedonio and Maria Marelos, died Tuesday morning and was buried yesterday at four o clock in Shakespeare Cemetery. The funeral was from the Catholic church with Father Power officiating. Felix had been ill for nine months despite every effort to help him. He was a bright student loved by teachers and classmates.
Miss Maria 8S. Gandara and Ygena cio Fierro of prominent Spanish American families married Sunday at 11 AM in a Catholic church celebrated by Father Richard Power. A reception and elaborate dinner followed at the Gandara home with a formal evening baile. Six bridesmaids and elegant costumes highlighted the celebration.
The Lordsburg Harmony Club schedules a program at 7:30 p m in the Methodist church featuring music by Gass Girls L W Gleason Miss Lowry Miss Trice and memory study Biographies of Mozart by Harold Scofield piano and vocal solos by Pamelia Nicholson Mesdames Austin Fuller and Bagley with an admission of 10e Everyone invited.
W Bailor and family relocate to Pomona California where B B Ownby indicates the former pastor will become pastor of a Christian church. His work here is praised and the town wishes him and his family well. The successor is expected soon and will be welcomed. Also a Christmas greeting card promotion at the Liberal office noted as affordable.

The Middle Animas box supper raised 232.00 to fund plays costumes. Mrs. Robert Wright was elected secretary, Westmer Cox won the pie eating contest, Clayton Yarborough and Garland Johnson won prune eating. Performers Alice and Anna Mae Yarbrough sang, Serra Lay greeted the audience, Estella Ballard sang goodnight. Next meeting is Nov 5.
The Star Theatre lists a weekend program including Hey Hey Cow Boy Felix the Cat and Fire Fighter Chapter 1 on Saturday, October 29, plus Auctioneer on Sunday and Scarlet Letter with Lillian Gish and Lara Hanson on Monday. The schedule continues with Bluebeards 7 Wives on November 4 and Matinee Ladies on November 3 and 4.
Mr and Mrs C C Conner announce their oldest son Calvin married Miss Margaret LeRoy of Los Angeles on October 15. Lordsburg friends extend warm congratulations and best wishes to the couple.
County 4 H Club schedules a Saturday event in a store beside the Texas Louisiana Power Co. Demonstrations include cooking sewing and potato club activities starting around 10 a m. Students from rural districts will showcase projects and skills.
All Baptist Churches in the Southwestern Baptist Association gather in Deming Sunday at 2 30 for a B Y P A rally with each church on the program for various spiritual entertainments until 7 30. Young people are urged to attend for spiritual enlightenment. No evening services at the Baptist Church. attendees welcome Methodist and Christian ministers at other churches. Reverend W W Wilkerson.
The Sunday School of Rodeo passes resolutions on the death of Miss Anna Wood Richardson who died Sept 29 1927. They note her faithful Christian life of over twenty years, offer condolences to her brothers and sister, and publish the record in Lordsburg county paper and mail copies to her family.
At the October meeting of Western Star Temple No 1 Pythian Sisters of Lordsburg New Mexico a resolution was adopted to prepare condolence resolutions. The text recalls that life’s end is beyond human reason and invokes the poem There is No Death. The message honors Ellen McHolt with religious imagery and memorial lines.

At the bankers convention in Deming last week Mrs J M Dorrance assistant cashier of the First National Bank represented Lordsburg as the sole woman delegate in a proper and dignified manner.
Mr and Mrs FE F Aker announce the marriage of their daughter Florence Edna to Walter Puschel of Wilna New Mexico. The ceremony was performed October 19 1927 by Rev J Rice.
The N. and T. club was entertained by Mrs Boswell on Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Leo Smith and his wife visited their Lordsburg relatives with their little daughter Leona.
Ex service men who have not yet claimed adjusted compensation are asked to contact L. S. Lee of Coronado Post American Legion Animas. Free head stones are available for graves and interested families should reach out. Coronado Post advances on a new building with a concrete foundation 70 by 40 feet ready for adobe laying, aiming for completion by the Thanksgiving rodeo and dance opening.
John Ss. Tee, the new Methodist pastor, drew large audiences at Sunday services. He vows to help improve the town and earn praise by starting on time and encouraging orderly worship as he joins Mrs. Tice and her children in the community.
