Two Lordsburg youths Miss June Hatch and Allen A Hill married in Long Beach California on Sunday October 14. The ceremony was at 5 pm in the Mormon Bishop Rev Ross T Hyer home. The bride, educated in Virden schools, later served Hidalgo County Health Dept and now works for the Army at Lordsburg Prisoner of War Camp. Hill has longstanding Lordsburg roots and is on shore duty at San Pedro.
Members attending Grand Chapter OES in Santa Fe last week have returned home. Myrldydia Andrews of Santa Fe elected Grand Matron and Pane Scott of Albuquerque named Grand Patron. Lordsburg chapter appointees include Mrs Emma Muir Past Grand Matron on General Advisory Committee and Mrs Hazel Chase Grand Electra.
A ceremony was held Sunday at the home of Elizabeth Shannon Utter as Mrs. George Utter and Sam Killebrew joined in marriage. Episcopal Minister Rev. Dr. Thompson officiated. The couple planned a brief honeymoon in Mexico City before settling in Clifton with future visits to Lordsburg.
Mr and Mrs Ray Hernandez greet old friends during a local visit. He is the brother of well known Andy Hernandez, once popular in the area. Andy was mentored by Miss Mary Kelly, longtime high school principal.
Mrs. Dora Kerr reports the death of Mrs. M. E. Cappleman in Los Angeles last Tuesday. Cappleman was sister to Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Mattie Kiethly and a former resident of Lordsburg.
H. P. Thomas, a social security representative for the area, assisted locals this week with information about the government sponsored project and its merit.
OPA raises ceiling prices on live hogs at 43 terminal markets and two interior markets to curb diversion from marketing channels. Reasons include wider differential costs from trucking to terminals, a hog shortage driving more slaughterers toward source markets, and tougher policing of sales at country points. Some Montana markets see ceiling reductions.

After war restrictions on heavy cream end farmers may obtain payments based on actual butterfat content if county AAA committees accept proof of higher tests. The program, begun in 1943 and accounting for about 640 million dollars to 2 million producers by August 1, 1945, aims to sustain dairy output without raising consumer milk prices.

Captain and Mrs. Lawrence Brown were house guests of Mr and Mrs Charles Fuller and Marshall Fuller over last weekend. Lawrence son of the late John and Myrtie Brown once lived in Lordsburg at Third and Penn. He served as a paratrooper in the Philippines and has recently arrived home. The Browns are now en route to their home in Los Angeles.
Col C G Sage commander of the 200th arrived in San Francisco last week and was slated to reach Albuquerque Wednesday night. Mrs Sage and their daughter met the colonel in San Francisco.
Mrs John Clark and daughter Carol from El Paso visited Mrs Luella Clark in El Paso and were hosted at dinner by Mr and Mrs J L Augustine and by Dr and Mrs C B Austin. The Wednesday Bridge Club gathered for a foursome with Mrs Luella Clark and Mrs John Clark.
Major Thomas R. Taggart arrived in Santa Fe Monday and is now in Albuquerque with his parents and visiting friends.
Damon Danagan is in the United States and is expected to be in Santa Pe soon. His parents Mr and Mrs Waiter Danagan will meet him there.
Lt R H Wamel writes from Basbo Kyushu China seas describing his minesweeper in the latest sweep off Basbo and a prior operation off Korea that opened a channel for occupation forces. He notes a welcome from locals and hopes for a quick mine clearance and homeward return.
Rosemary M Hicks of Mencalere begins work as Home Demonstration Agent covering Hidalgo and Luna counties. She succeeds Doris Marsh who moved to Eddy county in March. Hicks a Iowa State graduate with a home economics major in foods nutrition clothing and child care, has three years experience at Carrizozo Indian School and will split time between Hidalgo and Luna counties advising homemakers extension groups and 4-H clubs.
The Monday Night Bridge Lab met Wednesday with Mrs Myra Pierce and players including Mrs Mise Been Johnston Mrs Hazel Chane Mrs Bertha Koff Mrs Eimma Sco field Mrs Eleanor Cochran Miss Helen Chane Mrs Jane Stilea and Mrs Jane Traylor for a social afternoon of bridge.
Friends greet Phil Causland a Technical Sergeant in the Army as he receives discharge after serving 354 years in the service with radar work. He landed in North Africa and served through Italy and into Germany. Sgt Billy Fisher expected home soon, reporting plans to leave Europe on October 17 if boats not late.
Beta Sigma Phi Pi Chapter held a Model Meeting at the Hidalgo Hotel with Hon Vearle Payne speaking on Women’s Place In the Post War World. A Halloween party at the Womans Club featured Monte Carlo Whist, with Dora Mullins high and Mary Ellen Eddy low. Roy Jones returned home Wednesday from the Pacific Area.

Fausto Noce arrived home Monday afternoon after visiting Santa Fe with Silver City friends Mr and Mrs Blas Mee and Mr and Mrs Louie Villamante. The Welcoming party met him but missed him by about an hour. Fausto appears well and his friends are delighted to have him home.
Pte Hubert Burch is at El Paseo Fort Biles awaiting discharge around the middle of next week and plans to return home. Robert has served in Germany.
