The Assembly of God Church in Lordsburg begins revival services Sunday November 4 led by evangelist Dorothy Fowler with singer Myrtle McBride. Evening services run each night at 7 30 except Saturday with Pastor Everett Smith welcoming all attendees.

IN JAPAN S Sgt Charley Anderson of the 1st Division writes that he has landed in Japan from Mindanao. They stopped over a few days at Okinawa, leaving in time to miss the typhoon, but the water from there to Japan was surely rough. He says there is only one more boat ride he wants to take and that is the trip home.
Col. C. G. Sage, commander of the 200th when it went to the Philippines, said in a telephone chat with P. M. McInnis last week that he would visit Lordsburg soon.
John C. O Leary renowned publicist and former Deming and Silver City chamber official died in an El Paso hospital. He served as AP War correspondent during World War I at Camp Cody and Deming.
Mrs. Charles J. Jeffus learns her husband Colonel Jeffus has received the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct as commanding officer of the 927th Engineer Aviation Regiment on Guam from April 1 to September 1 this year. The citation praises his leadership boosting output from inexperienced battalions and coordinating with naval construction forces for joint Army Navy operations.
Mountain States Telephone employees enjoyed a Halloween weiner roast at Shakespeare with guests Buddy Bryant Mab el Dewey Ruth Barnes Jerry Kerr Jackie Marsh Set and Mrs Dede Mr and Mrs Ray Hensley Dr and Mrs J H Baxter Sgt Brewster Lt Case and Mr and Mrs Talmadge Robinette. The event ended with pumpkin pie and coffee at the Hensleys home.
Mrs S M Chase entertained the N and T Club Tuesday afternoon at her home. Present were Mrs Charles Fuller Mrs F R Poage Mrs G W Trimble Mrs H L Scofield Mrs May Hanner Mrs W E Oxsheer and Mrs Luella Clark. Mrs. S. M. Chase observed a birthday last Sunday with a coffee party hosted by Mrs. H. S. Chase. Attending guests included the honoree, Mrs. P. M. Chase, Miss Helen Chase, Mrs. G. W. Trimble, Mrs. F. R. Poage, Mrs. A. L. Green, Mrs. E. M. Fisher and the hostess.
Mrs. Lela Wood wife of Bert Wood of Canadian Texas died Wednesday October 24 after a long illness Burial was in Canadian The Woods lived in Lordsburg for many years and were well known in this community.
Six percent of 7300 industrial leaders on OPA advisory committees say all price controls should end now. Another six percent think elimination could come by January 1. Responses came from small and large business leaders across major industries nationwide, surveyed by Chester Bowles, National OPA Administrator.
District OPA officials say hand lawn mowers will be returned to retail stores at prices near those of March 1942. Consumers can buy mowers at prices within their budgets. Manufacturers will be required to sell inexpensive types in proportions close to pre war practices.
The OPA and Department of Agriculture announced a joint statement removing prices on canned and bulk sauerkraut. The advance move lets kraut packers plan to operate at maximum capacity to use the 1945 cabbage crop.

The District OPA officials announce a regulation fixing a price table for reconversion refrigerators. The ceilings are established to keep March 1942 consumer prices on average. The new rule governs all levels of sale.
The OPA adds items exempt from price controls including boats under 26 feet excluding toy boats, bowling and billiard gear, combat bags, imitation stones for jewelry, magazine racks, scientific watch repair tools, mortuary equipment, plaques, loving cups, and porch gates sold at retail for three dollars or less, noting these do not majorly affect living costs or business.
An official grant raises ceiling prices by ten percent on steel hinges butt hinges locks and other builders hardware items made from cast iron steel and some wrought brass. The higher prices aim to boost production while still benefiting buyers who would otherwise face costlier brass hardware.

The suspension of potato price ceilings continues until December 5. The OPA announced ceilings on potatoes have been suspended since September, with the Agriculture Department estimating the 1945 crop at 434 million bushels, well above requirements.

The Animas School Carnival held last Saturday evening at the school house was a great success. It raised over $300 for the Animas athletic fund with booths, games, a fish pond, a fortune telling booth, bingo, monopoly, and refreshments including hamburgers cake and pie.
