Conference Returns Rite to Lordsburg Texas Meeting

The Methodist conference held in Texas over the past week concluded with strong reports and progress in New Mexico and West Texas. Bishop Jolo M. Moore presided as appointments were announced for Albuquerque and surrounding districts, naming several pastors and supplies for multiple charges.

P O B Well Drilling Reaches Deepening Depth Near Lordaburg

The P O K Development Co. reports the test well about eleven miles west of Lordaburg has reached 1019 feet. Drilling continues with eight inch casing and under-reaming as shale and limestone encountered. G Lackland assists Bouton crew in reaming and setting casing amid rising shale pressures.

Duck Season Opens With Large Early Fly In

Duck season opened Wednesday morning as sportsmen went out early in great numbers to bag the first birds of the annual flight south. Extra water this season brought larger flocks to the lakes, aiding stopping points in the region.

Chevrolet Shop Break-In Stolen Valve Grinder At Evans Garage

A Tuesday night break-in at the Evans Chevrolet shop saw a large valve grinder and attachments stolen from a wooden rear building. Entrance via forced four doors. the grinder valued at about 150 dollars. The thief appeared to know the layout and target, with no other items disturbed.

Old Spanish Trail Motorcade Reaches Lordsburg Despite Rain

The Old Spanish Trail Motorcade traveling from S Augustine to San Diego arrived in Lordsburg on schedule about Friday. Fifteen cars and about forty people comprised the motorcade, met by Lordsburg boosters led by Secretary Hall who escorted them into town. Heavy rain and flooding reduced expected crowd size, but the group praised Lordsburg and distributed Liberal newspapers to locals and visitors.
