Nominating Ballot Names For Chamber Of Commerce Directors

The Chamber of Commerce counted nominating ballots on Monday night October 18 and named eight candidates H H Bryant J B Culberson Eugene Romney Jack Morgan P M Chase Marty Chase M Fisher R B Ownby as top vote getters. Six highest were to be chosen but tied at the end. eight names will appear on the ballot for three three year terms in a November election. A meeting was set for October 20 at 7:30 p m in the Hotel Hidalgo lounge to discuss selecting a Sun Princess fairly with representatives from each community organization.

Former Lordsburg Star Benny Frias Shines Overseas

Benny Frias, a former Lordsburg football and basketball star, starred for Ashiya Mustangs in a 14 to 13 win over FEA MCOM Marauders. He contributed a 67 yard drive with key passes and runs, completing five of ten passes for 66 yards and earning praise as the best quarterback on the field.

B P W Club Holds October Meeting

The Business and Professional Women's Club met at the president Mrs John A Johnson Sr on October 9 with co hostesses Mrs Katherine Carruthers and others. A Halloween autumn theme adorned decorations as Mrs Johnson led the session and fundraising plans were outlined for the year. The group voted to hold public card parties on upcoming November and March meeting nights with the first party set for November 13.
