Annual State Convention of Mexico Federation of Clubs Held

The third annual convention met in Port 7 8 and 9 1937 with about 200 attendees. Sessions occurred at the 1st church auditorium with notable speakers including Dr Carroll and Prof Harry F Taylor. New officers and delegates to Kansas City in May were chosen. Local hosts included Mrs Anna Teihie and Lordsburg friends.

Birthday Party for Jean Mearns Celebrated at Home

Jean Mearns enjoyed a birthday party on Monday in October with many guests. Activities included toy balloons and jack prizes, as well as organized games. Helpers included Mrs Crawford Mearns and several neighbors. Delicious ice and a decorated birthday cake completed the social afternoon.

Surgeon Heals Man After Brain Operation on Traylor

Dr C DeMoss performed a delicate brain operation on Tom Traylor of Solomon. A severely fractured skull left one side paralyzed by pain before surgery. Bone fragments pierced tissue causing an abscess and were removed. Forty eight hours after the operation Traylor regained limb use and rests comfortably in hospital.

Joint Birthdays Charm FE Club Party in October

Mrs Leo nis Peterson and her daughter Freddie celebrated birthdays at Mrs A B Bowman home on Wednesday October 14 as FE club members joined the hostess. Peterson recently returned from a month in New Jersey and the party featured pink and white decor and a birthday cake for Freddie. Christian Endeavor Sees Members Attend and Vote Planned

Twenty five members attended last Sunday evening at the Christian Endeavor meeting. Visiting minister Brother Winkler spoke well. Next Sunday continues last week's topic with discussions led by Gladys Nash Helen Brimberry Opal Wright and Roy Jones. A vote will decide Halloween party format a masquerade or a weiner roast. One Defendant Guilty One Is Given Freedom

Jesus Romero was found guilty of first degree murder in the shooting of Martina Navarro. Judge George W Hay scheduled execution by electric chair for December 17 between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m. Romero to be taken to a state facility by Sheriff John P. Cavin and held by the warden of the New Mexico penitentiary until execution. Francisco Rubio was tried for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. verdict not guilty after ten minutes of jury deliberation.

San Diego Doctor and Wife Visit Lordsburg on Way to Deming

Dr. G. H. Young and wife traveled from San Diego through Lordsburg greeting friends on their journey to Deming for a day with acquaintances before continuing to Mexico City for a vacation. Young served as State Veterinary Surgeon before the family moved west. In Lordsburg they met Senator Lee Brown Atwood, a childhood Michigan neighbor, and W. E. Holt, another former Michigan neighbor.
