Mrs. Lloma Carson now of Chula Vista California is the lyric co-writer of the religious song I Stood on the Bridge. Cliff Peek of Montgomery Alabama wrote the melody. Carson, born and raised in Texas, also writes poetry and short stories and has completed two book manuscripts.
The Booster Club will meet Monday October 10 at 7 30 at the National Guard Armory to view a film of the Lordsburg Cobre football game. They recently donated towels and benches and bought the game film. Public is invited.

Hidalgo County voters face a general obligation bond proposal of 250000 to fund a new county hospital. Federal Hill Burton matching funds may aid a projected 500000 total cost for a 25 bed facility. Bonds over ten years with under four percent interest could raise taxes by up to 23 cents per thousand.
Local Democratic meeting at El Charro Café drew 25 to 30 participants including Governor Burroughs and federal candidates. In another session Mayor Koff and Alderman Ramirez clashed over a police officer petition, adjournment ensued after heated exchanges.
