Future Homemakers Attend District Meet in Reserve NM

New Mexico girls from Lordsburg and nearby towns joined 104 members at the district Future Homemakers of America meeting in Reserve on September 27 1947. Officers were elected led by Patsy Smith with Miss Gillespie present for training and installation.

B P W Club Dinner Meeting Set for October 9

The Business and Professional Women's club will meet on Thursday October 9 at Hotel Hidalgo for a 7 00 pm dinner. Reservations are due by Monday evening. Mrs F N Davidson a sixth grade teacher sustained a painful foot injury after stepping on a nail this week and could not teach for several days.

Duncan Lordsburg Battle Ends In 13 13 Tie

Duncan and Lordsburg battled to a 13 to 13 tie Friday night. Lordsburg opened with a first quarter drive from their 25 aided by a Hernandez to Camacho pass and a Taylor carry. Duncan replied in the second quarter with Bramley returning a pair of interceptions 75 yards for a score and a late touchdown on short passes before time expired.

Patsy Smith Elected District FFA President in Lordsburg

Patsy Smith, 15, a Lordsburg high school junior, was elected president of the F H A district after already serving as local chapter president. The district includes Anthony Hatch Reserve Hot Deming Las Cruces and Lordsburg. She has completed two years in home economics and is now taking home economics H. She also served as district secretary at the December district meeting in Deming and attended the state convention.

Lions Urged to Attend Ladies Night on October 20

Local Lions club members are asked to keep the evening of October 20 open for a ladies night program. The weekly meeting will be held that evening and members should bring their wives or a lady friend. A box supper is planned and a good program is promised.

Ralph Craig Gains Honors for STC Victory

Ralph Craig, a 19 7 graduate of S. H. S., scored the only touchdown that beat Colorado A. and M. at last Saturday night. He won a suit of clothes from a Silver City merchant and earned a scholarship from STC covering a year’s insurance and room and board.
