The F A Black Drilling Co reports oil and gas at 460 feet in Austin No 1 eight miles north of Lordsburg New Mexico. J Eb Devine of Lordsburg reports progress at the F A Black Drilling Co site 8 miles north of Lordsburg New Mexico where limestone should lie within 500 feet and drilling shows potential. Nearby Copennys rig near Willcox yields oil at 1100 feet while four miles east of Bowie a well reaches 2700 feet with shale oil shows. Eleven miles north of Bowie Borderland Oil and Refining Co starts a new wildcat in Graham County led by F W LeCrone and R A Wetmore of Tucson.
