The B and P Women’s Club formed in Lordsburg in 1931 with seven members and grew to twenty three by 1933. It sponsored a gym class, a Junior Senior Prom, and a scholarship for the top graduate to aid tuition at a state school. The club’s charter was presented by National Federation president Mrs. Geline MacDonald Bowman in 1931. Members and officers over the years include Margaret Hott, Nan B. Scales, and Gracie Conner. Local firms and individuals donated to the scholastic award as the club promoted education and leadership for professional women.
