Russian Soldier Found Dead Near Pyra

A Russian soldier named Joe Ravanok was found dead Sunday night near Pyra four miles west of Lordsburg. The body was discovered by a freight crew after he apparently jumped from a Pullman berth. Authorities took remans for inquest and the case was wired to the Government for disposition.

Luncheon Club Meets at Lordsburg Cafe in Lordsburg

Black Range mountains deer hunt trip under Wadford duo

Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Wadford and von Clinton departed Wednesday for the Black Range Mountains to be in camp for the opening of the deer hunting season. They expect to remain about two weeks.

Work on the west town test well progresses slowly with one crew on day shift. An eight inch casing is under-reamed and lowered to 880 feet, with the bottom at 1019 feet, and drilling expected to continue toward 1460 feet as formations cave risks are managed.

The Regional Conference for eleven Western States convenes at State College from November 4 with 100 plus advance registrants. World War II veterans urged to file bonus certificates now

World War veterans and their dependents who have not filed applications for adjusted service certificates must act before January 1, 1930 to receive compensation. Senator Bratton says about 300000 veterans have yet to apply, and widows or dependents may file if the veteran dies. Veterans should contact Senator Dewllon in Washington for blanks.

Week-end trip with teachers from Lordsburg group

Mr. John Tyra of Lordsburg drove several teachers to the Hoosewell dam and Coolidge Dam over the week end. Accompanying him were Misses Johnson Swanland Zimmerman Alexander and Johnston. The party visited the Miami mining plant and stopped at Paradise to see Miss Swanland’s sister who teaches there.
