Lordsburg School District Principals say conferences were successful again this year with about 90 percent turnout at the elementary level. DTMS and the high school also showed large parent participation, as discussions covered conferences and open houses where parents meet teachers and the public views student work.
Flu shots will be given at the Virden Community Center from 9 00 a m to 10 00 a m on November 6 for students and faculty. Open house invites parents and any residents to see tax dollars at work. Hidalgo County voters backed the Clinton Gore ticket with 995 to 871 for Bush Quayle. Ross Perot earned 442. Sheriff Bob Hall defeated Richard Mejia by 400 votes. Many county races were decided, including Hatch over Miller for County Commissioner and Kerr over Williams for Assessor.
The Fourth Annual Playas Christmas Bazaar runs Wednesday and Thursday at the Playas Community Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Cactus Flowers Extension Club, the event theme is Winter Wonderland. For more information call 436-2706.
