Problems arising from the Public Domain under the Taylor Grazing Act will be discussed at the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association five quarterly Executive Board meeting in Lordaeburg on June 4. The federation will back law enforcement and review county tax committee reports with officials at budget hearings to address cattle theft and State livestock industry concerns.
Hidalgo County notes a public health nurse trained at Mayo Brothers in Minnesota and the University of Minnesota. The nurse, educated at Mayo Brothers and in Minnesota, vows to serve New Mexico communities and improve county health services as a public health professional.
Lordsburg girl Lola Jane Graham earns a notable position at Hatch State Bank after her graduation from Hatch High. Community pride centers on her achievement and future contributions.
L Augustine Jr. completed an agricultural course at Liege and returned home. He had previously achieved a record at the N M M I and was noted for high marks in both programs.
HT Birchfield Ranch in Clayton and A. D. Brown of the New Mexico Growers Association identified the Birchfield ranch in relation to El Paso activity.
Miss Madeline Constable hosted this week with guests Mescher Sudesh Apple Brewbaugh McNeal Parks Chas Conner and L Augustine as a guest. Prizes were awarded to Mrs and several small prizes plus refreshments were served.
A Baptist church Young Missionary Union gathering met at Mrs Jr's home this week. Attendees included Mesdames S Chas Pence Marvin Robert Corbell Walter Ray Jones M C Moore Ira M and others. The program covered lessons and refreshments with cake, cream and iced tea served.
The F. E. Club held a regular meeting at Mrs Baxters home on Wednesday May 26. Present were Mesdames Baxter Bass Bonar Ron and Peterson. Members Terry Crider Lungren and Freddie attended the meeting noted for the next gathering at Mrs Baxters home.
Twenty eight ships from the 55th and 77th pursuit squadrons under Major H O D Hunter landed at Lordsburg Airport Saturday afternoon and stayed overnight. They departed for Barksdale Field the next morning. A brief squall damaged the hangar roof, costing just under 400 dollars per Sergeant Apple. A sand storm lashed southern New Mexico the night before from the Texas plains.
Miss Anita Clayton daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Clayton has a rare opportunity to travel to Honolulu with her aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Tom Goad of San Antonio Texas. The Goads arrived in Lordsburg Sunday after a conference with the Claytons and Anita will join her relatives in Albuquerque for the journey.
Mrs Bryan Hall entertained the N. and T. Club on Tuesday with six members present including Mesdames Charles Fuller G W Trimble F H Singer H L Scofield J E Allen and the hostess. Delicious refreshments were served.
A Deming man, J. B. Collier, was found guilty of manslaughter in the slaying of William S. Hatcher. He received a nine to ten year sentence at hard labor in the New Mexico State Penitentiary in Santa Fe. The trial followed a disputed partnership ending in a dispute over assets and a gun discharge during a struggle over the weapon.
Contractor Jack Heather completed a chic transformation of Mrs. F H Daniels beauty shop now known as the Duart Beauty Shop. The interior features rock wood ceilings and side walls and vented blinds with a cool color scheme. Mrs Daniels offers hair scalp facial manicure and hair tinting and clipping with new machines. Opening day is Tuesday June 1 with invites extended to Lordsburg and Hidalgo County ladies.
A group of Pythian Sisters gathered at Mrs. Leo Cohen’s home Tuesday evening for a handkerchief shower welcome surprise. Mr and Mrs Cohen and Raymond left Sunday to establish a home in Little Rock Arkansas.
James T. Wells drove from Cananea Sonora Mexico to spend Sunday with his mother Olivia M. Wells. Raymond Wren of Dos Cabezas Arizona is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. George Potter and family.
Large crowds from Deming and Silver City attended the trial of William Hatcher's death case. Public opinion was heated, and organizers moved the case to Lordsburg for a fair trial by an unbiased jury.
Sheriff Joan P Cavin and Deputy Jim Nations travel to Santa Fe and Springer to deliver J M B Collier to the state penitentiary and return Alfredo Moren to the penitentiary after court testimony. They also take Juan Ar visa and Amando Rosale to the industrial school at Springer.
J I Brimberry urges all members to attend Sunday worship at the Church of Christ. A Memorial address will be delivered at Rodeo at 2 30 PM, followed by the evening service at 7 00 PM. The minister urges sharing good things and invites members to suggest a better Sunday gathering.
Mrs Edward G Roberts of Roswell guests at daughter Mrs Ray Elms home. Mr and Mrs Nat Gammon and Elms are in Paso for a few days. G A Wood traveled to Douglas and Tombstone with Mrs Wood and Beth. Mrs Bennie Everett visits her mother at Fort Bayard.
A liberal representative in Oklahoma City reports President H. S. Grimes of Banner Mining Company and Joe Engberg confirming a new 900 ton mill at Banner Mine. Output will rise twentyfold, boosting employment. L. L. Travis secures equipment. The Banner Mine, formerly Banney, is Hidalgo County’s major industry with W P A road access improving labor mobility.
Postmaster General James A. Parley will visit Deming Saturday morning for the dedication of the new Deming Post Office and the Carrie Tingley Hospital for Crippled Children in Hot Springs. Governor Clyde Tingley Senator Dennis Chavez and Rep. John A. Dempsey will attend along with most state postmasters. Hidalgo County sends a large delegation. a 7:30 breakfast will honor the Postmaster General.
Juamen Mollote, a skilled cabinet worker for contractor Jack Heather, died leaving a fine and upright reputation. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at Heather funeral home with Rev. Bryan Hall officiating.
Intermediate program at C. I. next Sunday at 6:00 P.M. led by Jamen Rodgers. Devotional includes a violin solo by Opal Wright. Discussion questions explore Daniel in the lion’s den, peer pressure, and moral courage, with a Bible reading contest offering a second prize.

Hurley D. Jones of Biggs Paso and Cadet B C Orth, friend of the late BE Lew is, landed at Lordsburg Airport where the former commanding officer greeted his many Lordsburg friends.
Jo an Winfield Walker is introduced as a sprightly youngster living with his mother Mrs M P Walker in Tuecs on. Col. W. G. Kilner Lt. Col. Charles Spatz and Maj. E. E. Glenn of Langley Field Virginia arrived at Lordsburg airport Sunday. Spatz previously visited with Maj. Gen. Benjamin D. Foulois who led the Air Corps.
Chairman Bryan Hall of the softball committee announces the first game will be June 4 and teams are selected. Warm ups begin Monday and Wednesday at 8 00. The field was cleaned by the W P A and half of the parking spaces are sold.
Mr and Mrs Vick Hon and Mrs Edna Strumkest of Deming were in Lordsburg on Tuesday.
