A Lordsburg Woman's Club open house honored Viola Wright on her 100th birthday May 21. Committee members hosted guests, served tea from an orchid cloth table, and presented a governor issued centenarian distinction along with congratulatory telegrams from Senator Runnels and the Social Security Administration. A large crowd, 103 guests, signed the guest book.

Fire destroys frame residence at 417 E Sixth St
Fire destroyed a small frame residence and a stor e shed with contents at 417 E Sixth St about 5 30 p m Tuesday. Mrs Pete Gonzales was away visiting a neighbor when the blaze started. Neighbors heard firecrackers prior to the fire and police had reports of children playing with firecrackers nearby. Damage estimated at 6000 dollars. Four people were cited for following fire trucks and parking within 500 feet of the scene.
