Programs For Commodities Use By Low Income Families
Welfare Departments and Extension Service set up a program to improve commodity use for low income families. At meetings every two weeks Mrs Eva Thomas of New Mexico University Extension Service demonstrated peanut products and dry milk uses while teaching sewing and garment tasks for children. The next session will cover roll not dry milk and sleeve setting with five more demonstrations planned.

Methodist Conference Receives Bataan Memorial Hospital
At the 75th Session in Albuquerque May 13 15 the New Mexico Annual Conference received Bataan Memorial Methodist Hospital in Albuquerque as a gift from the Woman's Division of Christian Service. The conference reports membership at 87 475 with a net gain of 1 846 in 1963 64 and pensions for retired ministers set at 63 00 per service year.

The May 1 1964 outlook from C A Tidwell and H L Jacobson notes April precipitation below normal in upper Rio Grande Basin Colorado and western slope tributaries while Chama drainage and Bateman Ranch New Mexico show favorable moisture. Rio Grande runoff at Otowi Bridge was one third normal. Elephant Butte storage 120 200 acre feet vs 338 600 a year earlier. Cooperators urged efficient irrigation and soil moisture based water scheduling to reduce losses and erosion.

Leroy McCarty sheriff of Hidalgo County was elected chair man of the County Democratic Central Committee at the county convention held in the district court room last Friday evening. Pioneer County Neighbor Mrs. Dunagan Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Deliah AJ Dunagan of Pioneer County died May 16 in Glendale Arizona after a long illness. Funeral conducted May 19 at Heather Chapel with Gene Rutter officiating. Lordsburg Sun Princess Contest Seeks Candidates
The Lordsburg Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce seeks candidates for the 1965 Sun Princess to represent Lordsburg at the Sun Carnival in El Paso. Local groups may submit names by June 1. entrants must be at least 16, unmarried, poised, and a college freshman.

Trout Fry Stocking In Gila Wilderness Reported
A hundred thousand rainbow trout fry were packed into the Gila Wilderness by Game Department men and volunteers from Parkview and Red River hatcheries. The West and Middle forks of the Gila were stocked by Frank Smith George Hightower and Bud Brashears with ten mule support. Mogollon Creek planting was done by Smith and Brashears with extra mule support from Lawrence Bill Shelly and Shaul family.

Eastern Star Honors Past Matrons Patrons
The Eastern Star held its last regular meeting May 12 at the Masonic Hall to honor past matrons and patrons. A pot luck supper preceded the event with centerpieces by Delia Parker and hostesses Eva Thomas and Doris McCarty. Ella Brown and Clara Brown received 25 year pins and Charles Fuller a 50 year grace pin, with corsages for each honoree.
