Lordsburg High School selects Brian Watkins as valedictorian with a 3.998 GPA and active roles in NHS Academic Decathlon Track Student Council Spanish Club and Football. He plans to attend New Mexico State University for a business degree. Salutatorian is Benjamin Joel Ponder son of Mr and Mrs Joel Ponder who played four years varsity football and two years track.

Cleanup Day At Mountainview Cemetery Sees Club Help
Knights of Pythias Optimist and Lions clubs joined city crews for a Saturday cleanup at Mountainview Cemetery using mowers and weed eaters. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served after, with work starting at 8:00 AM and a follow up at Shakespeare Cemetery planned this Saturday.

Infant Alexander Joseph Alvarez son of Rosemary Alvarez died Sunday May 9 in Tucson. The Mass of the Angels was Thursday at St. Joseph's Church Lordsburg with Fr. Sam Garcia officiating. Internment followed at Shakespeare Cemetery. He was born April 25 1993 in Deming and is survived by his mother and grandmother. Funeral arrangements were handled by Baca's Funeral Chapels.

Mora couple passes away in Auburn Alabama in 1993
Helen C Mora formerly of Lordsburg and El Paso died in Auburn Alabama on April 25 1993 at age 82. Her husband Sixto Mora died three days later on April 28 1993 in Auburn at age 92. Survivors include Emilio Mora Barbara Mora and Mary Mora nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held later in Lordsburg.

Marie F. Dean, 100, of Lordsburg, died Sunday at her residence. Born July 26, 1892 in Grand Haven, Michigan, she moved to Lordsburg eight years ago from Eagle Rock, California. Graveside services Friday May 14 at 10:00 AM at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg with Eddie Kerr officiating. Survivors include son Richard Moore, one grandchild, seven great grandchildren, and eighteen great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by sons Paul, Bill, and Howard Moore. Entrusted to Bacas Funeral Chapels.
